This compact device is engineered specifically for automotive use, providing a high-definition video feed to assist with reversing, monitor traffic behind you, or document incidents. Its core design delivers 1080p resolution footage through a capable 2 million pixel HD CMOS sensor, ensuring the captured images are clear and detailed. The package includes all necessary components for installation, allowing for a straightforward setup on your car's rear window using the supplied adhesive mounting solutions.

Features and Construction

The Midrive RC09 is built around key specifications that define its performance and physical profile. Its construction prioritises a functional, compact form suitable for discreet installation on a vehicle's rear window without obstructing the driver's view.

Material and Build

The camera's outer housing is made from plastic, contributing to its lightweight nature and helping it withstand typical automotive environmental factors within its specified temperature range. The build focuses on housing the electronic components securely, including the image sensor and lens, in a measured form factor of 56.14 mm by 25.19 mm by 25.19 mm. This material choice supports the product's intended use as a fixed, externally mounted recording device.

Size and Practical Fit

With dimensions of 56.14 mm in length, 25.19 mm in width, and 25.19 mm in height, the camera presents a compact profile. This size allows it to be mounted effectively on most rear windows without being overly intrusive or creating a significant blind spot. The provided static sticker and high-temperature resistant adhesive are tailored to secure this specific sized unit firmly in place, ensuring it remains attached through varying weather conditions and vehicle movements.

Uses and Placement

This camera serves a dedicated function within the automotive environment, designed to be a reliable source of rear-facing video. Its placement and technical specs are chosen to meet the demands of both everyday driving and potential recording needs.

Event or Professional Use

The 1080p HD resolution and 70-metre recording capability make this camera suitable for capturing clear evidence in the event of a rear-end collision or other traffic incidents. The 130° wide viewing angle lens helps cover a broad area behind the vehicle, reducing blind spots directly aft. For professional drivers or those frequently in congested traffic, this provides an added layer of documentation and situational awareness that standard rear-view mirrors may not offer.

Everyday Home Use

For daily commuting and family driving, the Midrive RC09 acts as an extra pair of eyes. It can aid in safer reversing manoeuvres by providing a real-time, wide-angle view of obstacles directly behind the car. The recommended operating temperature range of -10°C to 60°C means it is built to function in a variety of climates, from frosty mornings to hot summer days, making it a practical addition for year-round use on personal vehicles.

Benefits and Buying Value

The value of this product lies in its specific functionality and the completeness of the package provided. It addresses a clear need for rear visibility and recording without unnecessary complexity or vague promises.

Reuse and Low Maintenance

As a fixed electronic device, the camera requires minimal ongoing maintenance once installed. The use of high-temperature resistant adhesive suggests a semi-permanent installation designed for longevity. There are no consumable parts mentioned, indicating that after the initial setup, the product is intended to provide continuous operation as part of your vehicle's equipment, offering repeated value over time.
